Disaster Reflection

How does the devastation brought from Typhoon Haiyan make you feel?

The recent attack of the Typhoon Haiyan brought disastrous experience to people. I may not be directly affected by the typhoon but my feeling is not so much different from people who actually lost their home, family and friends. I heard that about 10,000 people died from this typhoon and most of them are in developing regions of the Philippines.

How should people prepare for and respond to disasters like Typhoon Haiyan?

There must be strong government involvement to Typhoon Haiyan. There should be developed equipment to predict typhoon's route in order to minimize the affect of the typhoon. Hundreds of more lives  could be saved if there was appropriate action taken. Also government should save foods and clean water to distribute to people whenever there is a typhoon.

Why do people live in vulnerable areas?
People live in vulnerable areas because of the disparities between rich and poor in the Philippines. Regions that are relevantly safe from natural disasters are taken by the rich people. Therefore, the price of the house is extremely high that most people in the Philippines could not afford it.
